AGGRESSION

Generally seen after severe TBI, often as a result of frontal lobe damage which deprives the person of the ability to inhibit anger or violent impulses. TBI-induced aggression presents on a spectrum from irritability to socially or sexually inappropriate speech or touching all the way to actual physical violence. Zoloft is helpful to relieve irritability. Lithium has proven effective in curbing violent outbursts. Depakote may prove helpful with moderately aggressive behavior, but is still under investigation.
