| COURT-APPOINTED
GUARDIANS [ back
to What's New ]
Recent reports indicate that some Court Appointed guardians
and conservators of persons with TBI have fallen prey to temptation
and begun converting funds for their own use - to buy cars,
paintings, jewelry, real estate, etc. Family members of persons
with TBI must remember that Courts have insufficient staff
and resources to carefully monitor the honesty of all appointed
guardians all the time. Family members should carefully investigate
anyone whom the Court nominates to serve as a guardian, and
thereafter keep in good contact with the guardian and ask
for frequent accountings. This will tend to prevent or at
least uncover any financial abuses.
