CALIFORNIA TBI PLANNING GRANT  [ back to What's New ]
In July 1996 the federal government enacted the Traumatic Brain Injury Act (Public Law 104-166). A purpose of the law was to issue grants of money to the states for "planning" and "implementation" of core infrastructure to provide services for state residents with a brain injury. California just obtained a "planning" grant for the year 2000. It will hold 11 focus groups around the state plus 4 large scale public forums. To attend or submit your own suggestions as to how the grant money should be spent, please contact Marita McElvain, TBI Project Coordinator, California Dept. of Mental Health, 1600 - 9th Street, Room 100 Sacramento, CA 96814
(916) 654-3168, fax (916) 653-6486.
