SPASTICITY [ back to Glossary Index ]
Spasticity or rigid contracture of skeletal muscles is a common consequence of severe TBI. It causes a variety of ills including peripheral nerve crush, pain, limited mobility and awkward deviations in normal movement patterns. Treatments include medication, physical therapy, botulinum injections, casting, surgical excision of nerve roots and intrathecal pumps of baclofen.
