SEROTONIN SYNDROME [ back to Glossary Index ]
Serotonin Syndrome refers to a serious, potentially fatal condition caused by ingested two or more medications which each boost serotonin supply (e.g. Serzone for depression plus Trazodone for sleep). It is characterized by confusion, restlessness, hyperreflexia, sweating and diarrhea. When this combination of symptoms occurs, all serotogenic medication must be stopped immediately to prevent death.
